To know your past, is to know yourself.

One of the most terrible things that came to the notice of the Medical Department was the treatment of Syrian (Assyrian) women and girls by the Turks, Kurds and local Mohammedans. After the massacre in the villages, almost all the women and girls were outraged, and two little girls, aged eight and ten, died in the hands of Moslem villians.

WHO: WHO Reform - May 2015

WHO is reforming to be better equipped to address the increasingly complex challenges of health in the 21st century. From persisting problems to new and emerging public health threats, WHO needs the capability and flexibility to respond to this evolving environment.

World Health Day 2010 will focus on urbanization and health. With the campaign "1000 cities - 1000 lives", events will be organized worldwide calling on cities to open up streets for health activities. Stories of urban health champions will be gathered to illustrate what people are doing to improve health in their cities.
