Malfono Ninos Aho, a man of conviction and a beacon of Assyrian nationalism crossed over into immortality on Monday, July 15. Surrounded by his loving family, Ninos passed away at home in Southern California, USA. He was 68 years of age.
This is a grave loss and a very sad time for our nation, especially for those who had the good fortune to know and work with him on national issues. A staunch supporter of Assyrian nationalism and political rights, Ninos transcended the artificial borders that had divided our people, helping to strengthen the national dialog between our fragmented communities. Through his unique and powerful style of communication he kindled the fire of nationalism in the hearts of many who heard his voice.
As we commemorate the Assyrian Martyrs Day on August 7 this year and reflect on the dedication and sacrifices of our martyrs, let's also celebrate Ninos and his commitment to our nation and its just cause.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and our fellow Assyrians worldwide.
