NICOSIA- June 1, 2001- The clear statment that the United States back Cyprus' accension into the European Union with or without the earlier solution of the Cyprus problem, is being requested by 45 US House of Representatives in a letter addressed to US secretary of State Colin Powell.
The initiative for this move belongs to US House Representatives Robert
Menendez and Lincoln Diaz-Balart and Robert Menendez and was undertaken
after a meeting foreign minister of Cyprus Yiannis Kasoulidis had with a
group of US House of Representatives, members of the International Relations
partliament committee, during his recent visit to Washington.
