Turkey Violates Human Rights
Greek right-wing main opposition party of New Democracy Euro-deputy Christos Zacharakis with a question to the European Union Council of Ministers condemned the Turkish foreign ministry decision to forbid European citizens of Assyrian and Syrian origin to visit the homes of their ancestors and their relatives in southern Turkey.
Mr. Zacharakis pointed out that Ankara is violating fundamental human rights with the
legislative regulation it implements, while at the same time, it continues the systematic destruction
of the Assyrian and Syrian cultural heritage by destroying monasteries and churches turning them
into mosques and stables.
