FRESNO, CALIFORNIA
Armenians in Fresno set a new record for their local PBS station.
During the Sunday August 5 broadcast of The Armenians: A Story of
Survival on KVPT, more viewers made donations to the station than ever
before in the station's history. In terms of money raised, it was a
station record.
According to one source, Armenian volunteers answering phones at the
Fresno station applauded when Turkish Professor Engin Akarli, of Brown
University, openly acknowledged in the documentary the Armenian
Genocide on national television.
The Armenians: A Story of Survival was also extremely well received in
Los Angeles (KCET) and Detroit (WTVS). Both stations said they were
overwhelmed with the positive response.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS, The Armenians: A Story of Survival will be airing:
KOCE (Orange County/Los Angeles), August 7 at 8:00 PM (encore August
19 at 8:00 PM).
