A Paris-based Armenian language weekly, Harach, writes that
Stephan Malpangotti, the only deputy in the Swiss parliament from the Italian-speaking province of Tessin, and member of the Federalism and Liberty party, resigned in early October, because a bill on recognition of the Armenian genocide, which he submitted to the parliament's consideration, was postponed indefinitely.
In his resignation letter the 33-year old deputy condemns the other parliament members of their indifference to one of the biggest crimes committed in the 20th century. Only the parliament of Geneva adopted in 1998 July 25 a resolution condemning the Armenian genocide.
