On Sunday the 11th of July, 1999 at 6:30 PM, the following News Clip was
broadcast on prime time SBS World News to around 19 million Australians.
The 2 minute news clip begins by
introducing the Assyrian people by showing the 'old ways' in which the
culture, traditions and language had been maintained for the past 2,600
years. The St. George Assyrian Church of the East, located in the Melbourne
suburb of Reservoir, along with it's Assyrian language school are shown
to symbolise the two main pieces of our identity, 'Religion' and 'Language'
respectively.
A few of the AYGV's members are then shown using Assyria's
Letters word-processing software. The modern maintenance of the Assyrian
culture,
traditions and language through the use of Cyberspace is then shown
by displaying the following sites.
