It seemed the obvious thing to do, and the Patriarch, accordingly, agreed to meet with Simco at the village of Koni Shehr, and he drove with his brother David and several other friends to that rendezvous (February 25, 1918)...
That act was the signal; next instant there was a shot, and then a volley from the men previously posted on the roof, and the Patriarch lay dead in his carriage, a victim to his trust in the honour of a Kurd...
The Patriarch's body was treated with gross indignity, being set up for mockery in a sham "diwan," stripped, and flung out into the streets; but it was at last taken up by the Armenians of the place, and they, under the leadership of their priest, gave it honourable burial in their own church, where it lies to this day.

USA, Chicago: Documentary film screening: Defying Deletion

Documentary film screening: Defying Deletion

Defying Deletion premiered this year at the annual Assyrian American National Federation national convention held in Arizona. The next upcoming showing will be at the Skokie Theatre on Sept. 26th, 2010 between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM in Skokie, Illinois. It is a charity event to save the 98 year-old, legendary theatre from foreclosure.
