As the civil war in Syria continues, Syrian and non-Syrian Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) alike have been fleeing to Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, and Iraq. Included in these refugees are Assyrians who had earlier fled Iraq during the Second Gulf War and its aftermath. AAS-Iraq has been assisting Assyrians from that initial wave of refugees. A much larger humanitarian crisis could suddenly develop if the Syrian government collapses. Please watch your trusted news sources and our website as we will continue to monitor the refugee situation. AAS-A and AAS-Iraq will respond quickly and to whatever extent is necessary.
