www.assyrian-genocide.org

May-07-2001 at 04:48 PM (UTC+3 Nineveh, Assyria)

In May, 2000, several Assyrian activists took an initiative to create an Assyrian Genocide website. Initial "requests for information and participation" letters were sent to other prominent and visible Internet activists from our various communities (Church of the East, Chaldean and Syriac communities). Some accepted and a few declined to participate in developing the genocide website, citing personal reasons for their lack of participation.

In order to begin development last year, a website was needed. Thus, https://www.assyrian-genocide.org was promptly registered and hosted (resides on the same server as Atour.com) by the development team of Atour to facilitate the group's efforts. The vast amount of resources allocated for the Assyrian Genocide project were:

  • 500 MB of web storage space for documents, videos, etc.

  • Real Audio/Video streaming enabled for video streaming capabilities

  • Unlimited Bandwidth utilization

  • All members have access to the entire website to allow uploading (sending) documents and other information for the website's gradual development
  • The intention of this message is to bring awareness to these genocide projects. This website has been in development for approximately one year and has not been sufficiently developed by the current group who took the initiative originally. While we at Atour.com, made resources available for the group, we maintained a respectible distance to make sure we did not impede the website's ongoing development and decisions.

Since we are the registered holder of this domain (www.assyrian-genocide.org), we are officially notifying the general public that we will not be renewing this domain registration due to the group's lack of interest. The yearly $35 Internic registration of this website is due for expiration on May 15, 2001. If there is any person or organization that wants to financially maintain this website's registration costs, online payment by phone can be made directly at Internic, https://www.networksolutions.com/en_US/help/telephone-support.jhtml. If payment is made, the domain can continue to be freely hosted on the Atour server and be available to Internet visitors. If payment is not made, the domain becomes publicly available for anyone to acquire and host on their own servers.

The Atour development team has opted to focus our efforts on developing and completing the Assyrian Holocaust website, https://www.atour.com/holocaust. A website developed internally, consisting of dedicated activists from our communities. If you believe in working consistantly and actively to develop a holocaust website that remembers our past, which eventually helps to define the future needs of our nation, then please contact us.

    Thank you,

Assyrian \ã-'sir-é-an\ adj or n (1998)   1:  descendants of the ancient empire of Ashur   2:  the Assyrians, although representing but one single nation as the direct heirs of the ancient Assyrian Empire, are now doctrinally divided, inter sese, into five principle ecclesiastically designated religious sects with their corresponding hierarchies and distinct church governments, namely, Church of the East, Chaldean, Maronite, Syriac Orthodox and Syriac Catholic.  These formal divisions had their origin in the 5th century of the Christian Era.  No one can coherently understand the Assyrians as a whole until he can distinguish that which is religion or church from that which is nation -- a matter which is particularly difficult for the people from the western world to understand; for in the East, by force of circumstances beyond their control, religion has been made, from time immemorial, virtually into a criterion of nationality.   3:  the Assyrians have been referred to as Aramaean, Aramaye, Ashuraya, Ashureen, Ashuri, Ashuroyo, Assyrio-Chaldean, Aturaya, Chaldean, Chaldo, ChaldoAssyrian, ChaldoAssyrio, Jacobite, Kaldany, Kaldu, Kasdu, Malabar, Maronite, Maronaya, Nestorian, Nestornaye, Oromoye, Suraya, Syriac, Syrian, Syriani, Suryoye, Suryoyo and Telkeffee. — Assyrianism verb
