About Assyrian Parliamen

Feb-10-2001 at 01:30 PM (UTC+3 Nineveh, Assyria)

LAST EDITED ON Mar-14-2001 AT 03:54 PM (CST)

I read Albert Alnasser suggestion about Assyrian Parliament and I like to write few points about this matter.
1. It's very good idea to work to establish an Assyrian Parliament because no nation on this earth can get her rights without an elected leadership. The election is the basic element in the democratic proccess. If we really are the people who believe in democracy we would all som parties, organisations, societies, churches and any other community work to establish this leadership( Assyrian Goverment - Assyrian Parliament - Assyrian National Congress).
The name is not the problem, but the problem is to have a system to gather our people and to be heard.
2. Mr Albert wrote: Work to establish the Assyrian Parliament for direct negotiations with Iraqi Goverment.
I don't think that it's a good idea to put the goal of Parliament only with one suject or point because the Parliament agenda or Assyrian goals which are going to work with them, must be decided and written after the Parliament have been established and then all these goals which they are going to work with must be discussed and decided by our people in a democratic proccess.
3. To establish or to get in existence a Parliament, I think it is a good idea to gether ideas and suggestions about Assyrian Parliament rules, goals and agenda on one page under Assyryian Parliament on internet. At the same time, all these suggestions can be sent to all Assyrian news papers, TV and Radio stations to be published. In my opinion, the time of recieving these suggestions can be about sex months.
4. Efter sex months, send an e-mail or post letter to all Assyrian Parties, Organizations, Societyies, Churches(East Catholic Church,Caldean Catholic Church, all syriac churches) and all those people whom have shared in sending these suggestions or ideas to an Assyrian conference to discuss and put in action this matter.
5. I think if these Assyrian Organizations believe in democracy and are working for Assyrian goal they shall all send their represents to this conference to share in decisions of Assyian people.

Mr.Paulus

I thank you for sharing the same main idea the "Assyrian National Parliament".
Just to correct you and clarify my point that I never meant to establish the Assyrian parliament for a sole purpose which you refere to only negotiate with iraqi government.
Assyrian issues are more bigger to limit them in the iraqi issue...
I refered to negotiation with iraqi government because it's the only suitable way to represent Assyrians by elected parliament as it's part of the parliament job.

Thank you

Albert Alnasser

Assyrian \ã-'sir-é-an\ adj or n (1998)   1:  descendants of the ancient empire of Ashur   2:  the Assyrians, although representing but one single nation as the direct heirs of the ancient Assyrian Empire, are now doctrinally divided, inter sese, into five principle ecclesiastically designated religious sects with their corresponding hierarchies and distinct church governments, namely, Church of the East, Chaldean, Maronite, Syriac Orthodox and Syriac Catholic.  These formal divisions had their origin in the 5th century of the Christian Era.  No one can coherently understand the Assyrians as a whole until he can distinguish that which is religion or church from that which is nation -- a matter which is particularly difficult for the people from the western world to understand; for in the East, by force of circumstances beyond their control, religion has been made, from time immemorial, virtually into a criterion of nationality.   3:  the Assyrians have been referred to as Aramaean, Aramaye, Ashuraya, Ashureen, Ashuri, Ashuroyo, Assyrio-Chaldean, Aturaya, Chaldean, Chaldo, ChaldoAssyrian, ChaldoAssyrio, Jacobite, Kaldany, Kaldu, Kasdu, Malabar, Maronite, Maronaya, Nestorian, Nestornaye, Oromoye, Suraya, Syriac, Syrian, Syriani, Suryoye, Suryoyo and Telkeffee. — Assyrianism verb

Aramaic \ar-é-'máik\ n (1998)   1:  a Semitic language which became the lingua franca of the Middle East during the ancient Assyrian empire.   2:  has been referred to as Neo-Aramaic, Neo-Syriac, Classical Syriac, Syriac, Suryoyo, Swadaya and Turoyo.
