Icebreaker

Jan-26-2002 at 09:26 PM (UTC+3 Nineveh, Assyria)

Greetings,

Since there has been alot of necessary tension in this forum, I feel that it is essential for us to have a little "time-out" before the continuation of the burning of chaff and the throwing of Aramaic spears.

To everyone:

1)What type of music do you guys like to listen to?

2)In the Tanakh, which person do you admire the most? Why?

3) What language did you guys take in High School?

4) Did you play a sport?

5) Which universities did you guys go to? What did you major in? Why?

6) What was your favorite subject in school?

7) I know that most of you guys are married w/children, right? How/when did you fall in love with your wife?

Greetings Kevin,

I think this is a really good idea, even though I wasn't a part of the discussion/debate/argument. So, I'll be the first to respond...

>1)What type of music do you
>guys like to listen to?

My musical tastes range from standard Alternative to Hard Core and Punk Rock... plus I'm a big fan of Vineyard style Praise and Worship stuff. And must confess I even hit the classical music when I'm in a mello mood.

>2)In the Tanakh, which person do you
>admire the most? Why?

I think I would have to say David. He made some mistakes in life, but his passion for God was incredible! Love covers a multitude of sins, and I want to be as passionate as David was.

>3) What language did you guys
>take in High School?

Well, I did a home schooling/independent learning thing in high school, so my situation was a little different. I did try to learn some Latin and Spanish, but never got very far.

>4) Did you play a sport?

Yep, I was all about Basketball, and I still enjoy running a game.

>5) Which universities did you guys
>go to? What did you
>major in? Why?

Virginia Tech, General Engineering Major, but only went for 2 years. I wanted to be an engineer like my father, but God has other plans for me.

>6) What was your favorite subject
>in school?

Well, like I said, my situation was different, but I spent most of my time studying computers and bible.

>7) I know that most of
>you guys are married w/children,
>right? How/when did you fall
>in love with your wife?

Not married yet. But I have recently met and fallen in love with an awesome girl who I plan on making my wife in the next year or 2. We met at a Christian conference and hit it off, and kept in touch as friends, and things developed from there.

Thanks for posting this...

God Bless,

Daniel

MOSES...BECAUSE NO ONE HAD AS GREAT A BURDEN AS HE AND YET HE FACED ALMOST EVERYTHING WITH HUMILITY AND GRACE. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT EVERY MAJOR SPIRITUAL TREND IN THE WEST AT LEAST GOES STRAIGHT BACK TO SINAI. HE GAVE THE TORAH THAT TOLD US HOW TO LIVE AND ABOUT THE MESSIAH.

>Greetings,

Well, I guess it is my turn!

1)What type of music do you
>guys like to listen to?

I listen to anything that will move me, filled me up with emotions, and cause me to think hard through the night. In other words, I listen to Rock. Like Andrew, I don't listen to Rap or Country, but my favorite band is Nine Inch Nails. I also enjoy New Age,World Music(particular Middle-Eastern and Indian). Believe or not, but I also like Nina Samone. My favorite instrument is the 'Ud.

2)In the Tanakh, which person do you
>admire the most? Why?

I would have to say that I admire Moshe the most. Next,I would go to Eliyah
>
>3) What language did you guys
>take in High School?

I am being forced into taking Spanish. I admit that I hate the language for being so strange. If you don't understand why, try using "Le" in a sentence and see how it comes out. El mesajero es no importante, verdad?
>
>4) Did you play a sport?

Last year, I was a freshman wrestler for Santa Monica High School. I was on the Junior Varsity team. I wasn't really good because my asthma held me down. Another reason why I wasn't that good was because on the way to the tournaments, I would break into cold sweats because of nervousness. But in the midst of my anxiety, I remembered that Jacob wrestled an angel and still won the fight...

>5) Which universities did you guys
>go to? What did you
>major in? Why?

I wish to attend San Francisco State. One, because I am tried of Los Angeles. Two, because the school is full of culture. Three, there's a parish of the CoE nearby.
>
>6) What was your favorite subject
>in school?

My favorite subject in school is History, particularly World History. Somehow, it clicks in my head.
>
>7) I know that most of

>in love with your wife?

Doesn't pertain to me...

Bonus: My favorite movies are: Midnight Express, Scanners, American Beauty, and Bram Stoker's Dracula

>1)What type of music do you
>guys like to listen to?
I like jazz, 70's rock (some 80's and 90's). But its not too often that I listen to it anymore. I love Andrea Bocelli (Italian singer) and Paco De Lucia (flamenco guitar).

>2)In the Tanakh, which person do you
>admire the most? Why?
Tough call. I admire Avi Avraham, who believed YHWH, even for the invisible! And PATIENCE... whew!

>3) What language did you guys
>take in High School?
3 yrs. of Espanol, have forgot most of it!

>4) Did you play a sport?
I lived and breathed basketball until I discovered the electric guitar, Rush, and Led Zeppelin!

>5) Which universities did you guys
>go to? What did you
>major in? Why?
I'm what they call a 'non-traditional student', because I didn't go to college until I was 27. My major is Ancient Near Eastern Languages and Civilization. I'm also minoring in music. I'm studying Hebrew, Aramaic, and Akkadian right now.

>6) What was your favorite subject
>in school?
Modern Hebrew poetry, and any class where we read the Hebrew Bible.

>7) I know that most of
>you guys are married w/children,
>right? How/when did you fall
>in love with your wife?
I have a beautiful wife named Jenny and two awesome kids: Andrew, almost 7; and Hannah, almost 3! Met Jenny in high-school, almost 15 years ago!
