man...thats what im thinkin of...us Assyrian teens have to get more involved...either its raising money for our people who are dying in iraq or other countries where help is need....or tryin to rhelp the assyrians in america today...that are struggling too. well...one thing...is that our elders arent really setting a good example for us...especially with all those political org.s..i strongly believe that they arent workin hard enough!...i mean..right now the only org, the Assyrian Aid Society...is helping our people in northern...but the other countries arent doing different.. i mean.like what about our issues with our Genocide...America and Turkey are denying the recoginition of the genocide.....first of all..Turkey said they never commited the crime.....and America, allies w/turks, is taking their back....but this is a Humanitarian issue...i mean just imagine telling the jews that the holocause never happened!..well we have a big case right now in the United Nations....but the assyrians arent doing anything! sadly...our elders dance more than we do!...with our elders even listening to muslim songs and dancing.....it makes us look like big hypocrites!....sadam killed our people and raped our women and children..forcing assyrians to read the Quaran(Muslim Bible)....and with the genocides that we have been through with the Turks....trying to wipe us out completely...i mean...it really suxs!. Music isnt just music....music influences alot..we listen to music like everyday....i dont appreciate listenin to muslim songs...the language that we were destroyed with! Then our elders say "oh we were killed in the genocide of August 24 by the Turks".....man does that sound like hypocricy or what!..instead, us teens, we have to show them...by addressing the issue over and over again!... and no....Us, assyrian teens, we can listen to English music....because the Americans havent killed us like those Muslims..and they havent forced us to lose our identity....they treat us like people....not like slaves! anyways.....this is a pretty cool site..keep up the good work!

Music does say a lot about a culture so why (just) listen to English music? Not to get too political, but it was the British that turned their backs on us Assyrians during WW1 denying us of our own nation! The European powers virtually fed us to the dogs. After leaving Bet-Nahrain (Mesepotamia) they gave every square centimeter to the Arabs! Many Assyrians died and for what? I challenge all Assyrian teens reading this to spend some time in the HOLOCAUST section of this site! I personally didn't learn of the genocide until a few months ago, my parents rarely, if EVER brought it up! If the genocide is forgotten how will it ever be recognized? Anyway sorry for rambling on , About music - We Assyrians have amazing Assyrian music. But for some reason, many Assyrians among us ARE hypocrites like "Systemofadown" truthfully stated - there are many Assyrians who simply adore Arabic, and Turkish music - I don't mind that music - it has a nice beat but I don't understand a single word!!! Why adore somthing you don't understand?! Amongst Assyrian artists, Walter Aziz is my fav. (I'm sure most of you reading this have heard of him.) He's also releasing his new CD (called "Away") and I'm sure that will be a hit with us teens. So instead of buying some English, Arabic, or Turkish album, why not give Walter Aziz a try and join the hundreds of thousands of Assyrian fans worldwide! U WON'T regret it. He's 100x better than Amr Diab or some Turkish singer. Oh! Check out a very very inspiring video that I just saw!!! It's about Young Assyrians and their Academic accomplishments. go to: https://www.atour.com/education/20010705a.html read the article and check out the video. What I saw really really inspired me. The best we young Assyrians can do at the moment is strive for excellence, what I mean is: be the best citizen you can be whether you're an Assyrian living in Canada, U.S., Sweden, etc. Don't ROT your mind with drugs, sex and other stuff like that - it doesn't promote us Assyrians! Don't just stop at highschool, become part of the intellectual community by getting a diploma in college or a degree in University, the Assrian Nation is in need of Model Assyrians!! And I'm hoping those Model Assyrians will be us one day!! Above all, be involved with your Assyrian culture!! If all Assyrians, and more importantly the younger generation become involved - we will make a difference, improving the state of Assyrians globally, and one day - GOD willing - bring Assyria back! May GOD bless you all, Ashour

Most of Assyrians listen to forign music more than to the Assyrian, Why? Because they don't like it, the Assyrian song compared with others is dead, same song of the last year, only alittle bit of change in the music, our singers are not creative artists. I listen to Arabic songs specialy Iraqi and injoy the music how they mix the culture musing with the new age music and create a nice song, an important part of the song is music unfortunatily the assyrian artists do't know it, We don't have to incourige the Assyrian artist but they have to satisfy our needs, they have to fight with the forign artists to gain our ears they must learn from others how they pole the ears to their songs and do like them I don't mean to copy them but learn from them, I reagret when I hear anice forign song whether Turkish, Arabic, or English but not Assyrian, my friends and brothers our teens will never favour Linda George, Walter Aziz......etc. over Britni, back street,.....etc. because those are creative and know the importance of music, but ours, with regret arn't. Thank you.
