HAKKARI, Assyria
(AIM) -- Anthrax, the deadly disease, has spread into southeastern Turkey. Two shepherds were taken to Hakkari State Hospital for medical treatment. Six cows have died due to symptoms and complications with the Anthrax disease in Merzan and Gazi quarters in the Hakkari region.
Veterinarians confirmed the cows have died of Anthrax. Health officials have issued warnings to refrain from consuming meat and dairy products from the region.
Turkish Health Minister, Osman Durmus, stated that such a disease could not exist in Turkey but the disease is appearing in Hakkari.
