Marathon against Assyrian Genocide in Enschede, Holland
Turkey massacred over 750,000 Assyrians during the First World War in 1915. This is the logo on the shirts of our Assyrian youth whom are running with over 10,000 other runners in Enschede in Holland next weekend on the 16th May, 2004. We will meet at 11am in front of the Grote Kerk op de Oude Markt in Enschede, the marathon will start at midday.
In 490B.C., Phidippides ran to Athens to save the Athenians from a Persian
invasion on the plains of Marathon. 1500 years later, we the
children of Assyria
are running to save ourselves from being forgotten. Come and support our youth
on this marathon to show and make all aware that this atrocity and injustice is
brought to light and never again to be kept in the dark. Assyrian Directory: Organizations
