IHD members sent a letter to DYP Chairman Ciller who says, 'Armenians should be deported'

The backlash to the recent suggestion by True Path Party (DYP) Chairman Tansu Ciller that "the Armenians should be deported," in retaliation to the so-called Armenian genocide resolution, continues. Ciller said in the face of the reactions, "I did not mean Turkish citizens of Armenian origin, but people who are citizens of Armenia, working illegally in Turkey and carrying out lobbying activities against Turkey," but Human Rights Association (IHD) members continue to criticise her. IHD Istanbul branch members expressed their reaction to Ciller in a letter.

Istanbul branch Chairman Eren Keskin said in a speech to IHD members who came together in front of Beyoglu Post Office, "We find Ciller's racist and chauvinistic proposal about Armenians in contravention of human rights."

The letter to Ciller said: "Dear Mrs. Ciller, the policies you propose are becoming chauvinistic. As human rights defenders, we wish all politicians like you to leave politics, since you not only fail to create constructive policies but are also starting a backward trend."
