According to Kathimerini, Turkey might create a crisis situation it would subsequently use as an opportunity to invade certain Aegean islands

Ankara - Turkish Daily News

The Greek army will be fundamentally restructured against a "Turkish threat," a Greek newspaper said on Thursday, the Anatolia news agency reported.

According to the Kathimerini newspaper, Greek generals believe that Turkey might create a crisis situation that it would use as an opportunity to invade certain islands in the Aegean. The United States or Europe would step in a possible armed conflict between Turkey and Greek within 24 hours, the newspaper continued, but the Greek Army would proceed to take measures in order not to fall into a disadvantageous situation within this 24-hour period.

The army is giving special importance to high-technology weapons within the scope of its restructuring, added the newspaper.

Kathimerini also claimed that southeastern Europe would have a crucial significance for Europe's security, just like Germany did during the Cold War. The restructuring efforts of the Greek General Staff were important in that sense, it added.
