Turkish premier, foreign minister discuss Armenian genocide "allegations" Ankara, 24th November: Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit received on Friday 24th November Foreign Minister Ismail Cem and some bureaucrats. At the meeting, issues such as policy to be followed against allegations on so-called genocide on Armenians, relations between Turkey and the European Union, and the latest developments in the Middle East were taken up. Diplomatic sources told the Anatolia correspondent that Ankara was getting prepared to change its policy towards the allegations on so-called genocide on Armenians. They said that from now on Turkey would not be contented with reacting against the allegations but would launch initiatives to disprove these allegations. At the meeting the issue of taking concrete steps to open the Ottoman archives was brought onto agenda.
Meanwhile, Turkey also plans to gain Armenian people and making
lobby by setting up a commission of experienced academicians within
framework of its new policy towards Armenia.
