The Greek armed forces are equipped with depleted uranium ammunition which have been used during military exercises in the Aegean and Ionian seas, according to press reports. As the Athens dailies "Ta Nea" and "To Ethnos" reported, the United States have provided Greece with 50,000 such shells, 40,000 of which have been used in maneuvers, and the remaining 10,000 are in storage. Also, according to data provided by non-governmental organizations, Turkey also has ammunition with depleted uranium.
