LIVONIA, MI--On Saturday, January 13, 2001, the ANICA will be sponsoring its first Armenian-Greek-Assyrian (AGA) cooperation conference for the new year. The guest of honor will be Greek-Canadian member of the Canadian House of Commons, Jim Karygiannis.

MP Karygiannis has been a frontline warrior for our peoples' causes since he first took office in 1988. In November of 2000 he won a resounding re-election victory. He is most known to us as the one who single-handedly got the Canadian parliament to recognize the Armenian genocide and single-handedly led the successful effort to block the Canadian government's efforts to sell CANDU plutonium processors to Turkey.

Among the many issues to be discussed will be the Armenian genocide resolution in the US congress, blocking the US government's attempts at selling Turkey attack helicopters, the arrest, imprisonment, and trial of an Assyrian priest in Turkey for speaking out for recognition of the genocide of Christians by the Turkish government, and the arrest and imprisonment of Greek-Cypriot Panicos Tsiakourmas.

The conference will take place at the Peking Buffet restaurant in Livonia, MI. It is located at 33897 5 Mile Road, just one block west of Farmington Road on the south side of 5 Mile Road. The restaurant is located in the Civic Center Plaza strip mall on the corner closest to 5 Mile Road. The restaurant's phone numbers are (734) 266-8100 and (734) 266-8119.

There is no charge to attend the conference but each individual will be responsible for his and her own drinks and meals. Seating is limited so please make your reservations now.
