Armenia — Representatives of Assyrian communities of different part of the world gathered in Armenia on October 28. They had several meetings not only with the Armenian authorities but also Assyrian communities of Armenia.
"Seyfo" is the Assyrian word for "Genocide". Assyrians also were among the people subjected to violence in Turkey. During 1915-1924 more than 800 thousands of Assyrians with 1, 5 million Armenians were the victims of Turks.
Turkish authorities deny the historical fact of the massacre of the Assyrians as well.
Only Sweden recognized the Genocide of Assyrians in the whole world.
Assyrians are spread all over the world as a result of the Turkish Massacre. They did not have a center earlier that would coordinate their activities. The aim of visits of the representatives of Belgium, Australian, Syrian, Russian, Georgian and Latvian communities was the opening of the center.
The result of the visit was the agreement on the establishment of Assyrian center in Armenia. The center will be engaged in the educational, cultural issues of the Assyrian community in Armenia.
There are 5-6 thousands of Assyrians in Armenia: they live mainly in 4 villages. Assyrians are the third biggest national minorities in Armenia.
