Armenians may recognize Mr. van Dam's work from his by-now famous cartoon, the "Turkish Ministry of Denial".
Dutch political cartoonist Mr. Arend van Dam recently produced a cartoon about Turkish denial of the Armenian Genocide.
When Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan threatened Pope Francis after the latter acknowledged the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek Genocide, Mr. van Dam decided to revise his cartoon.
About the artist
Mr. Arend van Dam's work has appeared in Time magazine, the Financial Times, and many other publications. In addition to his cartoon work, he is also a book illustrator.
Arend van Dam has won a number of international awards, including the Golden Palm at the 1972 Salone Internazionale dell'Umorismo in Bordighera, Italy, and the prize of the Ministry of Rijkswaterstaat at the ninth Eindhoven Dutch Cartoon Festival.
