Edward Hydo, an Assyrian Australian artist, was born in the village of Sikreen, Sarsink, city of Duhok in Iraq, 1957.

Edward Hydo has received many awards including 4 major art awards in the Middle East along with first place honors in an international competition for the finest painting of an Arabian horse.
 


Edward was personally invited by King Hussein of Jordan to the Palace of His Royal Highness after seeing his completed works.  He was commissioned by Saddam Hussein to paint not only himself, but every minister of the Iraqi government.

Edward has been the subject of documentaries and interviews on television and radio broadcasts in the United States of America, France, Japan, China, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Portugal and throughout the Middle East.

Edward and his family are now pleased to be living in Australia after fleeing the tyranny of the Saddam Hussein regime.

Upon his arrival, he painted a large oil painting of the former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating, and presented it to him as a gift.

In Australia, he has painted personalities as diverse as:

  • Ricky Stuart, Australian and Raiders Half-Back
  • The Stallions, Greenline Express and Agincourt
  • His Holiness, Pope John Paul II
